Expansion of Viracopos requires 800 cases of expropriation

The works to expand the Viracopos International Airport, located in Campinas, will result in 800 shares for expropriation to be sponsored by the Union in the first half of 2013. According to the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) and Infraero, R$ 150 million will be invested to enable the construction of the third airport runway.

Negotiations for the extension of the airport site was already planned as one of the PAC, and began in 2009. The sum of expropriation procedures is already 1255 and R $ 131 million has been allocated for the payment of compensation to these owners.

The expectation is that all actions are completed by the end of the year, being 4000 urban lots and 167 rural properties. Until now, 745 properties were delivered to Union.

With the work completed, the Guarulhos International Airport is the largest in Latin America, with 25.99 km square.
